Never Give Up – A Story Of Blessings & God’s Grace In Abundance

Collage showing Gurudwara Nada Sahib, a handful of karha prasad, and a moment full of blessings — symbolising faith, gratitude, and the strength to never give up.

Day- Monday
Date- 30 Nov 2020
Place- Gurudwara Nada Sahib
Occasion- Gurupurab
Lesson- Never Give Up

Because special days carry special excitement, my office clan decided to visit the Nada Sahib Gurudwara during the lunch break since it’s a 5-minute walk from our office.

Crazy queues of people had thronged the place.

The courtyard was full of life; people everywhere, colours of turbans moving like waves, voices blending into a hum of prayers.

The only way we could’ve made it to the insides of the gurudwara, thereby bowing down before the Guru Granth Sahib, was to fight through the hubbub.

But we were all mature enough to not do that!

So all we did was peep inside the windows that were left open for people like us to catch a glimpse of the Manji Sahib.

The Pull Of Karah Prasad

After this was done, it was time to have the BEAUTIFUL GHEE-RICH KARAH PRASAD.

Beautiful because KARAH PRASAD is not some smooth, sweet, soft, velvety halwa; it’s quite literally an emotion.

But good things don’t come easy, do they?

The Queue That Felt Endless

The queue for prasad turned out to be longer than the queue for seeking blessings. Nonetheless, we made our way to the sewadars distributing the prasad, hands cupped, smiles on our faces.

I will take a moment here to appreciate the whistle-stop arm movements of the three sevadars who were offering prasad to the devotees.

It was insanely fast.
Almost robotic.

However, people moved ahead in groups. Others seemed to appear from nowhere, walking right up to the sewadars, getting their share, and moving away. And there I was, still waiting, not knowing what to do.

Half a minute passed, and so did the full.
Time began to stretch.

I shifted my weight from one foot to the other, waiting for my turn.

I thought, maybe I should just leave.

But something inside, soft yet steady, whispered: Never give up. Just a little longer.

Doubts That Whisper When You Wait Too Long

If you’ve ever been in a long queue, you’d understand the thoughts that accompany it, some of which are –

“Log soch rhe honge ptani kyu khadi hai itni der se”,
“Sab soch rhe honge kitni pagal hai auron ko aane diye ja rahi hai”,
“Kya pta kismat mein hi na ho prasad”,
“Chal yaar koi ni, Heena, ek baar ni mila toh kya ho gya, agli baar mil jaega.”

Seconds Before Quitting

And just when the last thought had struck half of my brain cells, the other half was processing something DIVINE.

It so happened that the robotic arm movements of the three sewadars (offering prasad to three different people at a time) aligned together in a way that all three of them ended up putting prasad in my cupped hands.

I froze. They froze too. And in unison, they smiled and loudly chanted: “Waheguru.”

Goosebumps. That’s the only way I can explain it.

Seconds ago, I had been ready to walk away with nothing.

Now, I was standing there with three times more than I had expected, a blessing multiplied.

From Almost Giving Up to Never Giving Up

The girl who was planning to give up seconds ago was now standing with a triple of what she had wanted/expected.

What if not magical would you call this?

What if not magical would you call the seconds between planning to give up but hanging in tight?

A blessing, perhaps?

Or perhaps a lesson.

A lesson to never give up; at least not till you have a valid reason.

Lesson from the Wonderland: Never Ever Give Up

Cliche as it may sound –

Sometimes, the moment you’re about to quit is the moment just before the blessing arrives.

Life will test your patience.
You will stand in many long queues, some for food, some for dreams, some for love, some for success.
And in those moments, the choice will be yours:

step away… or stay just a little longer.

I hope you choose to stay. Because sometimes, staying means you leave not with what you wanted but with more than you could have imagined.

****

I wish for whoever reads this to have the strength to hold on when the wait feels endless, to stand steady when doubt begins to whisper, and to keep faith when the reward feels far away.

Hang in there long enough, and you might just find life placing in your hands far more than you ever thought to ask for.

May you remember that the most beautiful victories are often hidden behind the longest battles, and that every moment you resist giving up is a step closer to something extraordinary.

So when your patience wears thin and you feel ready to turn away, pause, breathe, and stay.

The next moment could be the one that changes everything. 🙂
