Heena In The Wonderland

Pisco By The Beach in Goa – For Perfect Sunsets, Sundowners, & Swings

Heena standing at the perfect spot to get clicked at Pisco By The Beach in Anjuna, Goa.

I got to discover Pisco By The Beach as part of my self-curated Goa’s Day 3 Itinerary in January 2023.

After I discovered the MESMERISING colour-coordinated bookstore, our group was to meet at Pisco By The Beach. While I could have spent that entire day at the bookstore, one of my friends had already paid the cover charges for me.

So yes, Pisco asks for cover charges ranging between 1,500 and 2,500 per person for premium tables to hold the booking. It is then adjusted in the bill towards the end. Is it worth all this? Let’s find out! In case you find the cover charges unnecessary, you can explore Artjuna Cafe in Goa (5 mins – 1.5km – from Pisco) as it’s equally amazing (minus the beach view).

5 Things That Make Pisco By The Beach Awesome

1. Brilliant Sea View Setting

Imagine a panoramic beachscape spread out before you as you relish a gourmet steak in a ‘gram-worthy, high-on-aesthetics restaurant. You get to experience this in real at Pisco By The Beach.

Treasured Photogenic Spot I waited for 15 minutes to have my turn and get clicked here. This picture matches the dreamland I imagine myself in. My wonderland. I can see myself looking at this image when I am 80 and questioning myself, “Was this spot really this dreamy, Heena?” And my inner voice would say, “Dreamier, Heena, Dreamier!”

2. Thoughtful Interiors

Pisco By The Beach’s interiors feature a blend of earthy tones, beachy aesthetics, and natural materials like rattan, jute, and bamboo. The bar, dressed in blush pink subway tiles and an olive green backdrop, steals the spotlight with its irresistible charm. Kudos to Sheldon Pereira and Rahul Thakkar, co-founders and principal designers at ‘Right Brain Design’.

My Favourite Part: I loved the strategically raised areas and lower central spaces which are designed to ensure that every guest enjoys the mesmerising sea views. I also found the wood-framed chandeliers immensely graceful.

3. Perfect Sunset Symphony

While every moment at Pisco is enchanting, sunsets hold a particular allure. As the golden sun starts to bid adieu, Pisco unveils a spellbinding spectacle with the sky weaving a tapestry of celestial hues. Even the warm lights within the canopy give the place a candlelit glow from above. If you love sunsets as much as I do, you will witness nature’s grand finale from here.

Best Sunset Spot: As you step into Pisco which spans over 3,900 square feet, you’ll find a long foyer accented with hand-painted plates that leads to the 140-seater dining room. This area, especially the deck, displays expansive sunset views.

4. Hammocks By The Sea

Pisco’s innovation knows no bounds, as it introduces the world to the concept of semi-private dining hammocks overlooking the beach. Picture yourself reclining in a cocoon of serenity, embraced by the gentle sway of the hammock and the rhythmic lullaby of the waves. Here, time surrenders to the pleasure of indulgence, and every bite becomes a celestial delight.

Appreciation I loved how Pisco took the concept of seaside dining to a whole new level. Installed is a wooden staircase that gently leads down to the water just in case the desire to wet your toes arises. Wow!

5. Exotic Gastronomic Delights

At Pisco By The Beach, even the menu dresses for dinner. From noon to moon, the menu changes while the core ingredients of the dishes remain the same. In other words, the celebrated chef – Rohan D’souza – doesn’t serve the day menu during the night and vice versa in order to offer a unique epicurean experience.

What We Ordered: We ordered almost half the entire menu, courtesy of the 18 people we had in the group.

5 Things That Could’ve Been Better

1. Ear-Splitting Music

The deafening music played by the DJ until 9 PM is a disappointment to many. The raucous caused by overwhelming beats makes sign language the only medium for communication other than shouting into the other person’s ears. Providing a quieter section or offering a more balanced sound level can help.

2. Pricing Structure/Cover Charges

The advance payment per person, which varies depending on the seating location, pressurises the guests to order items worth the token money. While the restaurant promotes confirmed reservations to ensure a premium dining experience, it is a matter of concern for many guests.

3. Hospitality Services

At times, the waiters take forever to attend to your needs. The second beer I ordered came after 40 minutes. The little “suroor” I had from the first one was long gone by then. But well, later, you’d know from Day 3 Itinerary that I had drank so much; I almost died. 😛 Haha. Heena Ganotra, you guyssss, she’s dramatic.

4. Dedicated Staff/Bell At Hammocks

The services are slow even at the tables that are nearer to the bar. I could sense people at the hammocks (the other end of the bar) facing the same.

5. Separate Smoking Area

A dedicated smoking area can make the place comfortable for even the sensitive ones.
